Grettislaug is a geothermal hot spring near the sea on Reykjaströnd. It’s wonderful to wash away any weariness from traveling in this historic a rustic pool, built of rocks. The Icelandic Saga outlaw Grettir The Strong Ásmundarson warmed himself in this pool after his famous swim from Drangey, where he, according to the story, wrestled the ghost Glámur. We recommend that you read about Grettir in Grettissaga, but the story is available in English here.
There is a small entrance fee for entering the pool, or 500 ISK for adults and 300 ISK for children.
